Torry Awards 2011-2012

Theatre of the Republic honored its own Saturday, July 14, 2012, as TOR’s Board of Directors hosted the ninth-annual Torry Awards Celebration.

Inspired by the Tony Awards that honor the best of the past season on Broadway, the Torry Awards have become an annual tradition eagerly anticipated and enjoyed by both the nominated performers and the general public. The awards honor the best of TOR’s shows and the many talented volunteer performers and technicians.

Hosted by Theatre of the Republic’s Executive/Artistic Director Tim McGhee, the evening featured performances from productions of the 2011-2012 season, including Hairspray, A Tale of Two Cities, Ain’t Misbehavin’, Promises, Promises and The Full Monty. In addition, musical numbers were presented as teasers of the upcoming 2012-2013 season from shows such as Damn Yankees and The Color Purple.

Following the awards ceremony, an after party was held, featuring food catered by Tony Adams and Tim McGhee, with assistance by some of the TOR board members. In addition, there was a DJ and dancing on the main stage.
